To clarify, not a page related to marriage..
If you've visited the 'In-Tents Vacation" page, you'll be fully aware of the fact that in much of the published content, our holidays under canvas feature quite prominently. But in December 2025, after a largely disappointing year, we decided to go in a new direction and in February 2026, we purchased our "New to us" touring caravan, which we've called Lexi-Sienna.
This page is an extension to the former holiday adventure narrative. Hope you enjoy it.
The inspiration; Originally, this was planned to appear as a wry interpretation of a "Baptism of Fire," relating to the first try/ attempt at any new project, hobby or interest etc, which in our case would be towing a caravan, even though technically, it wouldn't be my first time..
But as the poem took shape, I realised that the content was taking me in a different direction and the result of that, is this; 12.2 Metres of Fun.
To elaborate more on the title, our caravan from end to end, including the tow-hitch is 7.2 metres in length and the car which forms the pulling power is a fraction under 5 metres. Isn't mathematics great?

The story of our first proper holiday with our caravan, Lexi Sienna. No trial run, no "toe in the water," just full on holiday mode.
The inspiration; For our first full, 'non-trial run' trip away from home with the caravan, we selected a site not far from the seaside town of Scarborough. I first visited the location with my parents as a teenager and I was keen to see how the place had changed over the years.
Fortunately, it would appear we picked one of the better sites in North Yorkshire, hence, Yorkshire Best.

The inspiration; As described in the info box on the right, we were keen to have a second attempt at this beautiful area of the country, after last year had tested us to our limits, and it had thrown everything it could at us (visit my 'Under Canvas' page for details,) but this time, we were ready. Our upgrade from a tent to our lovely caravan Lexi, with a new power source to tow it with in Skylar the Skoda, all the kit we would ever need (which we've gradually built up over the Spring,) and we felt we'd planned for every eventuality.
So, it would be quite remiss of us, not to document this epic holiday experience remake (I'm feeling a movie franchise emerging here, such as Vacation 2: The Tourists Fight Back,) to highlight the wins, and the losses, as our touring rematch bout gets underway..

After the success of our 1st proper holiday away with Lexi-Sienna, our caravan, as detailed in "Yorkshire Best," we decided it was time to be a little more adventurous, and after our disastrous vacations in Devon and Cornwall last year with our tent, there was only one region we could head for, on our Summer tour, with the aim of re-writing our South West narrative.
We were ready to try again, but how did it turn out? Well, read all about it in "South-West Tour of Duty; The Cream Scone Dilemma."
